Rocavo / Embedded systems & firmware

Embedded systems.
From board to behavior.

Define what the device must do, connect its interfaces, and develop the code that makes it operate. Embedded software for sensors, controllers, instruments, and hardware products.

01 / Engineering capabilities

Specific work.
A connected perspective.

A board can power on and still be far from a working device. Firmware connects peripherals, timing, operating states, and communications within the limits of the hardware. Work can cover a new design, an existing firmware codebase, or a defined integration problem.

01

Embedded architecture

Define functions, timing, resources, and the division between hardware, firmware, and connected applications. Evaluate a microcontroller, embedded Linux system, or existing module against the requirements.

Typical scope outputsRequirements and constraints · Software architecture · Interface definitions

02

Board bring-up & peripherals

Develop initial software to exercise a board and connect sensors, converters, memory, and other peripherals. Include diagnostics that help distinguish software behavior from hardware faults.

Typical scope outputsInitialization and interface code · Bring-up routines · Configuration records

03

Device control & sequences

Implement operating modes, state transitions, and scheduling around the intended process. Define startup, normal operation, interruptions, and recovery behavior before checking the implementation.

Typical scope outputsState and sequence logic · Timing implementation · Scenario checks

04

Communications & data handling

Move commands, measurements, and status between a device and its connected systems. Define messages, buffering, timestamps, and behavior when data is incomplete or a connection is lost.

Typical scope outputsCommunication interfaces · Data and message formats · Host integration tools

05

Configuration & diagnostics

Make settings, calibration values, identity, and operating information accessible and maintainable. Scope programming, configuration, or update workflows around how devices will be produced and supported.

Typical scope outputsSettings and calibration handling · Diagnostic commands · Programming or configuration tools

06

Integration & verification

Connect the implementation to representative hardware and check agreed behavior. Prepare repeatable builds and a documented release so the work can continue after the initial engagement.

Typical scope outputsBuild and release setup · Hardware test procedures · Recorded results and issues

02 / Ways to put it to work

Bring a real
engineering problem.

These example requests show how a project can begin. They describe possible scopes, not completed customer projects.

01 / EXAMPLE BRIEF

Bring a sensor board to life

Read the selected sensors, configure acquisition, and communicate measurements to a host with useful diagnostics.

02 / EXAMPLE BRIEF

Coordinate a device sequence

Connect motion, position sensing, and measurement through defined startup, homing, run, stop, and error states.

03 / EXAMPLE BRIEF

Prepare prototype firmware for handoff

Turn an existing branch into repeatable builds, documented hardware checks, and a release package your team can maintain.

03 / The Rocavo AI Engine

Firmware connected to the physical design.

The Rocavo AI Engine is our internal engineering platform, currently in development. We’re building it to connect embedded behavior with electrical design, mechanical operation, controls, and verification. A firmware change should be considered in the context of the entire system.

01 / CONNECTED ENGINEERING

Define the device

Connect operating requirements with hardware resources, interfaces, and timing constraints.

02 / CONNECTED ENGINEERING

Coordinate the implementation

Keep firmware behavior aligned with circuit decisions, sensors, actuators, and connected applications.

03 / CONNECTED ENGINEERING

Check the integrated behavior

Link requirements and changes to the software checks and physical measurements needed for review.

The Engine is Rocavo’s internal platform, in active development. Your engagement has an agreed scope, engineering review points, deliverables and acceptance criteria.

04 / The handoff

Know what
you will receive.

We define the deliverables around the work you need. A focused assignment may use only part of this package; a larger engagement can connect it to the other disciplines.

Requirements & architecture

Device behavior, timing assumptions, interfaces, and implementation boundaries.

Firmware & build package

Source, build configuration, dependencies, and release binaries for the agreed target.

Integration & test records

Programming instructions, test procedures, recorded checks, and open issues.

Handoff documentation

Configuration, maintenance, debug, and interface notes for your team or build partner.

We agree file formats, source access, review stages, schedule and acceptance before work starts. Procurement, physical builds, commissioning, specialist reviews and ongoing support are identified separately where needed.

Before you begin

Useful questions.

Can firmware work begin before the custom board is ready?

Architecture, interfaces, and some implementation can begin using documentation, development hardware, or simulated inputs. The plan identifies the checks that must wait for the target board.

Can you work with our existing electronics and firmware?

Yes. Share the board documentation, source and build environment where available, and the required changes. We review the current state, supported platform, and integration responsibilities before agreeing the scope.

Will the firmware be tested on real hardware?

The verification plan defines access to representative hardware and the checks to perform. Actual electrical interfaces, timing, power behavior, and physical operation require appropriate hardware and measurements; source and release documentation are included as agreed.

A focused task or a larger system

Where does your
project need help?

Share the intended device behavior, target processor or board if selected, schematics and source where available, connected peripherals, timing requirements, and the issue or milestone you need help with.
